Clos de La Petite Gallée~ Coteaux du Lyonnaise, France
Imported by Game of Seasons
Let's introduce a part of Coteaux du Lyonnaise....
Viticulturist for 3 generations, this domain, located south east, dominates the Rhone, 15 km south of Lyon. The Thollet family farm is made up of 10 ha of vines. Grape varieties, for AOC Coteaux du Lyonnais, are black gamay for red and chardonnay and aligoté for white. They also produce Syrah and Viognier for our Cuvée Pavillon. Average production is 450 hl and sell about 40,000 bottles a year.
FACT:
At the time of the foundation of Lugdunum, the vine was established in the Mont d'Or. In the Middle Ages, on the initiative of the religious orders, it developed on a blessed land: the Coteaux du Lyonnaise.

When people ask where and what is a Lyonnaise? Well, the best way to describe the area of "Lyonnaise", is a cross between a Burgundy and a Rhone. Grapes are sourced from both areas sometimes, and the blend is truly a unique experience.
This happens to be my one of my favorite ORGANIC wines on the planet, Clos De La Petite Gallée, which is 100% Chardonnay and also the red 100% Gamay! I wanted to bring in something new this year. I have been a fan of theirs for 3 years now. Thanks to Phillip at the Buvette, Le Marche en Dijon (market bar.) This was my go to bar since 2014, and now they are friends and clients. Exclusively Imported by Game of Seasons. |

1. The Le Clos Rouge Cuvée 2015: Is ORGANIC and produced from 100% Gamay, which is a black grape with white juice by semi-carbonic winemaking, is appreciated for its light and fruity character and will perfectly accompany the charcuterie, meats, and cheese!!! ... and all the Lyonnaise cuisine. Wine Pairings: I ENJOY this light and fruity wine with CHEESE!!!! The older the better!!! This is that wine when you're waiting for friends to show up and you want to nibble while you wait! 2. The Moraines 2014: Selection of our old vines of Gamay (dark black grapes) with white juice. The cuvée Les Moraines is made for 12 months in Burgundy. This could age for another 5 years. It will accompany pleasantly an aperitif, fish, poultry and Quenelles Lyonnaises.(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quenelle) Sips and Tips! Wine pairings: I also paired this wine with, a Niçoise Salade! The Niçoise is a composed salad of tomatoes, tuna, hard-boiled eggs, Niçoise olives, and anchovies, dressed with a vinaigrette. It is served variously on a plate, platter, or in a bowl, with or without a bed of lettuce. (I prefer with lettuce, in one of my favorite spots in Dijon!) Also Great with PIZZA! 3. Le Clos Blanc 2015: (in French means The closed) But there is nothing closed about this beauty. The cuvée Le Clos blanc, is made from 100% Chardonnay and Aligoté grapes, can also be used as an aperitif or during a meal, with fish or shellfish. |
Wine pairings:
I personally paired the Le Clos Blanc with yummy Dim-sum! I had friends over for Brunch and had it delivered.
Set everything up and popped a few bottles for a petite tasting. Yummmmm!
